Our Story

From humble beginnings to a Lowell pizza tradition

A Legacy That Started In 1962

Espresso Pizza opened its doors in 1962 as part of a three-location chain founded by the Ferrara family. The shops were in Lowell, Fitchburg, and Nashua. By 1964, the family decided to keep just two, with each brother taking one. The Lowell location stood strong, building a name known for good pizza and friendly service at 220 Central St in Lowell, MA. It quickly became a go-to pizza spot for families and friends in the area.

From Brazil To The Pizza Oven

In 1969, Frank and Lee Carvalho moved from Brazil to the United States. One year later, they started working at Espresso Pizza. They began with small tasks, worked hard, and learned the pizza trade step by step. By 1989, they bought the restaurant from the original owners. Their journey from helpers to owners shows the heart behind the business and the care that goes into every pizza made.
